Zaved Akhtar joined the UCL Board as a Non-Executive Director in October 2021. With over 27 years of experience in the FMCG industry, he brings deep expertise in marketing, business transformation, and sales management across Asia.

He began his career at British American Tobacco before joining Unilever in 2000, where he has held various leadership roles. Zaved is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of Unilever Bangladesh and President of the Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Known for driving innovation and embedding change, he has led diverse teams and steered organisations through complex economic and political environments. Zaved is an avid reader and prolific writer. He is widely regarded as an expert in the FMCG industry and is frequently invited to speak at industry events and conferences. He also contributes to national newspapers on industry-related topics and economic issues.

Zaved is an alumnus of St. Joseph High School, Dhaka College, and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. He has also completed executive programmes at IIM Ahmedabad and INSEAD, Singapore.
